Arsenic is a metallic element that is extremely poisonous, so it’s kind of hard to believe that arsenic is also an essential vitamin for our bodies. Most of us don’t need to supplement because we get enough of it in our diets. Arsenic is found in bread, meat, starchy vegetables, cereals and fish. It is not clear exactly how arsenic works in the body, but some researchers think that it may assist in metabolism. Toxicity can occur if doses large than 250 mcg are taken a day. Most diets have about 140 mcg. If you ingest more than this amount, you should call 911 immediately.
