Recently, a popular beef company (Topps Meat) recalled their frozen hamburgers made from June and July of this past year, for fear of E. Coli infection. The burgers have sickened 25 people in eight different states, leaving many shoppers weary of the meat in their freezers. The recall is for 21.7 million pounds of meat, enough to make a hamburger for every adult in America. If you find the meat in your freezer, experts say the safest thing to do is throw it away. Of the brands recalled, the ones affected have package number 9748, and sell-by dates of Sept 25, 2007- Sept 25, 2008.
The food recall is the latest in a rash of E. coli-related callbacks this year, including tainted spinach and salad mixes. The USDA said it is unable to explain why there have been so many outbreaks.
