Like the other vitamins mentioned in the B-vitamin complex thus far, vitamin B5, or Pantothenic acid, plays a role in metabolizing fats, carbs and proteins. B5 plays a crucial role in the production of red blood cells and hormones from the adrenal gland. Studies have shown it may have a use in treating rheumatoid arthritis.
The recommended daily allowance for B5 is 10 mg, and while a deficiency is very rare, it may result in fatigue and abdominal pain. Found in many foods, B5 found in highest dosages in eggs, whole grains, and meats.
