upright rowThis article is part 4 of my series on dumbbell exercises every guy should deem worthy.  Today’s exercise focuses on the shoulders.

Dumbbell Upright Row – Shoulders
Grab a pair of dumbbells and position them in front of your body, facing your thighs.  Keeping a shoulder width grip, pull the dumbbells up toward your shoulder so that your wrists are even with or just below your shoulders at the peak of your movement.  Make sure to keep your elbows out, but not too far forward.  The move can also be performed with a cable or barbell.

The move will help develop those larger deltoids you want so long as you keep proper posture. It also works the trapezius muscle (inbetween your shoulders). Keep your legs shoulder width apart, tighten your abs, and try not to throw the weights up (instead, move slowly and smoothly thorugh the entire motion).  Slow and steady gets results.
