The Summer’s Worst Foods

Posted July 9, 2008 at 01:30 PM by Megan Hueter

Section: His Nutrition, Healthy Eating

sausagesThe summer can be a great time. Unfortunately, it’s not always the healthiest for our bodies. Check out this slideshow from WebMD. It shows how backyard barbecues, cocktails at the pool, baseball games, and lots of fried chicken, ribs, potato salad, ice cream, hot dogs, and beer come together to make the fattiest foods we can eat. The post says, “While most people are more active during the summer, it may not be enough to burn off all the extra calories from fattening summer treats.” I completely agree. Check it out.

I would completely agree. Not only are those foods fatty, they contain high levels of trans and saturated fats, sodium and cholesterol as well as calories.

Nutrition is factor needed in addition to filling up our stomach. Keeps you stronger, healthier, and more alert. Thats why people normally go out to eat. It is the Chef’s job or cook job to fill your stomach but also give you a balanced diet. Thats also why when you go out to fancy restaurants they give you a little bit of food.

I am totally agree with you however, the single easiest way to trim calories from your summer diet, experts say, is to load up on nature’s bounty. Besides being low in calories, produce is loaded with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fiber.

the best way to get some of those lost nutrients is by eating some uncooked raw vegetables. You could have a salad for example. You can also take vitamin and mineral supplements instead.

  28. Hot dogs get a bad rap, but they score a resounding victory in the battle of American barbecue classics. Hot dogs benefit from two simple realities: First, the skinny bun makes for built-in portion control, which means unless you’ve fired up foot-long brats or have a penchant for chili and cheese, you’re unlikely to build a dog with more than 300 calories. Second, the traditional condiments for hot dogs — ketchup, mustard, relish, onions — are of the low-calorie variety.
