Weight loss is a game of numbers. For every 3,500 calories that you burn, you will lose 1 pound of fat (after figuring the calories that you have taken in). All the diet tricks around can’t get around this one simple numerical fact: you must burn more calories than you consume. Running is one of the most efficient ways to burn calories.
Depending upon your pace and body weight, for every mile you run, you burn about 100 calories. This means that it probably takes you less than 10 minutes to run 100 calories, a rate that beats almost all other forms of exercise.
So, what are you waiting for? Go for a run. Tomorrow, go for another. After a few days, increase your mileage. Then, increase your intensity and pace a little. You’ll start seeing results soon enough.
