push upOne of the most important aspects of exercise is that you put forth some extra effort. However, experts agree that not all exercises are created equal. A recent article from WebMD discusses 7 of the most effective exercises you can do, and fitness experts explain how and why they are important for your workout.  Here’s a list of what they came up with:

1) Walking - simple, great cardio, builds strength
2) Interval Training - boosts workout level, helps you lose weight
3) Squats - excellent strength training exercise, works the quadriceps, hamstrings, and gluteal muscles
4) Lunges - work all the major muscles of the lower body: gluteals, quadriceps, and hamstrings, “realistic exercise,” improves balance
5) Push Ups - If done correctly, the push-up can strengthen the chest, shoulders, triceps, and even the core trunk muscles, all at one time.
6) Abdominal Crunches - If done correctly, experts say this is your best bet in getting firm, tight abs.
7) Bent-over Row - This exercise works all the major muscles of the upper back, as well as the biceps.

For more details about each exercise, check out the article at WebMD.

I don’t know who they are targeting… perhaps people who have never worked out, but there are tons of exercises that are a lot better than a lot of those… squats I agree with as with pushups, but what about pull ups?

I know not many people can do them, but if they train, pull ups are one of the best exercises… and just lifting weights is the best thing you can do for yourself. I am not a believer in WebMD
