Fat Patches: Do They Work?

First there was a patch designed to help people stop smoking. After that, I figured it would only be a matter of time before someone created a patch to assist with fat loss, and just as suspected, fat patches have now infiltrated the growing list of weight control aids. The patches don’t suck fat out of your body, of course (God, that would be nasty), instead they release ingredients into your system which aid in fat loss.
How Do Patches Work?
Transdermal patches use a passive diffusion method to transmit substances into the skin. The controlled release method reduces the impact of side effects which may be caused by the substances being released and also allows faster absorption into the bloodstream compared to say, a capsule. The substances in fat loss patches are generally appetite suppressors and metabolism enhancers, such as Guarana and tetrahydropiperine. One particular brand, Jen Fe, boasts having an ingredient called ForsLean, which they say has the benefits of ephedrine, but without the hazardous side effects. ForsLean also aids in preserving lean muscle mass during weight loss diets. Quite obviously this is beneficial, as it is not uncommon to lose muscle along with fat while dieting. Interestingly, the herb which ForsLean is extracted from has also been used to treat asthma, allergies, hypertension and angina.
Patches have been used in various capacities for a few decades now, and their effectiveness has been proven. As I haven’t used a fat loss patch, I can’t comment on whether or not they are worthy of the hype, but at the very least it is one more mortar shell in the cannon of weight control.
