This article is part 5 of my series on dumbbell exercises every guy should deem worthy. Today’s exercise focuses on the chest. This exercise will improve your pec strength, and secondarily works your biceps.
Dumbbell Incline Chest – Chest
Grab a pair of dumbbells and a free standing incline bench. Start with each weight held overhead, as if you were lying with a barbell. Now, slowly lower each arm to as low as you can to your outer chest, repeating the motion as many times as you can. You should notice that your shoulders and triceps are at work. Make sure to keep your upper arms above the plane of your body, as lowering the weights too far could cause injury. Also be wary to not lock your elbows that the top of the motion.
Try resting the weight on your knees to kick it up to starting position so that you don’t strain. If you have a spotter handy (recommended), have them position their hands under your elbows to provide support.
