If you’re thinking about changing your lifestyle, what are you waiting for? A recent study finds that people in their 70’s who are active have a much better chance of living longer.
According to Maggie Vink of Thatsfit, “In the study, men who didn’t smoke, had normal blood pressure, maintained a healthy weight, didn’t have diabetes, and exercised two-four times a week had a 54% chance of living to their 90s. A sedentary lifestyle reduced their chance of living to their 90s to 44%.”
A second study of 700 people over the age of 97 showed that their prolonged life was due to how effectively they managed their health conditions, how active they are, and their diets. The point of their lives that certain conditions developed, such as high blood pressure was irrelevant since they managed their conditions well by taking care of themselves.
It doesn’t matter what your case may be. Whether you are overweight, smoke, have high blood pressure, or don’t exercise, it is never too late to change your bad habits. The sooner you begin eating healthy, quit smoking, and start exercising, the better. Not only will it help you live longer, it will reduce the suffering that sometimes comes with age. By eating right and exercising, you are reducing the chances of suffering a heart attack, stroke, developing diabetes, and other diseases. It doesn’t matter how old you are now or what your condition is: just remember that it’s never too late to change your life.
