breakfastDid you eat breakfast today? If your answer is no, and you have trouble losing weight, you might want to reconsider your decision. New research is showing that a substantive meal can help keep your weight in check. The American Journal of Epidemiology reports that participants who did not eat breakfast gained about three pounds over a four-year span.

The reasoning as for why this happens is particularly interesting. Research say that eating a meal after a long period without food (such as when you sleep through the night with no food and then eat at lunch time) releases excess amounts of insulin, leading to fat storage, and prevents the breakdown of stored fats.
