incline barbell bench pressThis article is part 2 of my Break Out the Barbell series on exercises you can perform simply by using the bench and barbell that sit in your garage.  Today’s exercise focuses on the upper chest.

Incline Barbell Bench Press – Chest
The move is very similar to the flat bench press, except you use an incline bench.  Taking the barbell of the rack, slowly lower the bar until it is a few inches above your clavicle, and press back into starting position.  Do not touch your chest with the bar, as you will cause extra stress on your shoulder joints and will take tension away from your chest.  Like the flat bench press, maintain control as you lower the bar, exploding as you press upward.Again, take to using a spotter to avoid injury.

  1. I’ve been training with kettlebells for a little over a year now, and can definitely say that they’ve dramatically improved my strength, body composition, and overall physical capabilities. If you’re not familiar with kettlebells, they are an old eastern European training secret that has just started to take the US by storm over the last few years.
