Oscar Pistorius has been cleared to compete for a place in the Beijing Olympics. Oscar is a double-amputee AND Olympic sprinter, who runs on specially designed metal blades. Previously, the International Association of Athletic Federations imposed a ban that prevented Oscar from competing because his blades were seen as an “unfair advantage.” I’m glad the IAAF finally came to their senses. It would be awful if we prevented an athlete who overcame such incredible odds from competing in the Olympics. I’m excited to watch Oscar compete.
